Photoshop: An Introductory Course

Photoshop anyone? 

Many of you, our members, have a number of questions in the past and have put in requests to learn more about the program, to become more efficient with your post-production efforts. Let’s really get 2015 going with some post-production tutorials via Photoshop. The DMV Photographers MeetUp group will be hosting its very first Photoshop tutorial of the year. Let’s face it, Photoshop is a robust program. You’ve got to start somewhere – so why not start here? This will be a great opportunity to learn and grow, to help make your photography stronger.



This will be an introductory course focusing on the basics. THIS COURSE ASSUMES THAT YOU HAVE ZERO TO VERY BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF PHOTOSHOP. This will be a 3 hour course with 1 hour dedicated to Q&A. The topics that we will cover: 

• Familiarity with your Main Menu bar 
• Familiarity with your tool bar 
• Familiarity with your secondary tool bar 
• Familiarity with your sub-tool bar 
• Introduction to panels 
• Understanding Layers 
• Understanding Layer Style 
• And other basics time permitting


This course will be taught by DMV local and fellow DMV Photographer participant - Senia. With over 16+ years of experience, Senia is a Digital Graphics specialist as well as a fellow photog. An industry professional with a BS degree in Computer Graphics and Multimedia design, her work focuses on everything from graphic and multimedia design, front-end web and UI design, 3D and animation, to photographic manipulation and re-touching. Her knowledge comes from a life-long study rooted in traditional fine arts, composition and structure, color theory, and visual design. Her portfolio includes work produced and published from Fortune 500 companies to local businesses.



This course will cost $75.00. Payment will need to be made in full in order to hold your spot and participate. Special one-on-one, 30min training sessions are available after the course. Each session will be an all-inclusive Photoshop instruction - from basic to advanced topics, tips and techniques, photo-manipulation and retouching. These sessions will be on a first come-first serve basis at $50.00 per request. Please contact us in advance for scheduling.


This course is here to help you understand the basics of the program and how it is meant to be used as an enhancement tool to make your work stronger. 
In order to participate in this course you will need the following:

• Personal laptop 
• A mouse (highly recommended) 
• Photoshop versions CS4 up to CS6 
• Paper, Pen/Pencil (anything to take notes)
